Project description
A new Smoke Ventilation system was required for the Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City and Circle Line platform areas of the station (platforms 1 to 6). The system became necessary due to the Over Station Development Works, by Land Securities (the 21 Moorfields project).
Scope of Works
The scope of works comprised the following activities:
- New LU (Primary) and DNO (Secondary) power supplies to the new Smoke Extract System
- Creation of a new Smoke Vent Switch room
- New Smoke Extract switch panel and control panel
- Smoke fans and Dampers
- Installation of domestic electrical, fire and mechanical services to newly created switch room
- Installation of additional PAVA and CCTV covering the newly created station rooms

What we did
Collaboration
Worked collaboratively with key project stakeholders, third-party contractors, and station/depot operational staff to ensure effective coordination and seamless delivery of the works.
Health and Safety
Implemented rigorous Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) planning, ensuring all identified risks were appropriately assessed, controlled, and mitigated throughout the project lifecycle.
Programme Management
Developed and executed a robust programme of works to ensure all project activities were completed safely within restricted engineering shifts, with no disruption to the operational railway.
Collaborative Programming
Delatim attended regular joint planning workshops where all stakeholders contributed to and agreed a single, integrated programme to safely deliver the works with minimal operational impact.
Logistics
Delivered a large SWA cable drum to site by crane and transferred it to its final position using a bespoke trolley.
