Project description
Delatim were engaged by MACE to assist with surveys and validation of Design at Paddington Station. The existing live Bakerloo Line ticket hall was to be decommissioned and segregated from the station so that major construction work could be completed, creating an extension into the new Paddington Cube development.
Scope of Works
- Completed all Intrusive surveys to validation the enabling design
- Completed all enabling works to Install a fire rated hoarding
- Built new switch room [inclusive of water proofing] and built new room for Sprinkler Valve Chamber
- Enabled all live services
- Isolated and stripped out all redundant services on operational station
- Was part of the Detailed Design review team and provided comments on Detailed Design for the Fit-Out
- Provided LUL expert advice to MACE as required.

Collaboration
Worked collaboratively with key project stakeholders, third-party contractors, and station operational staff to identify gaps within enabling works designs and provide compliant solutions.
Health and Safety
Implemented rigorous COVID-19 Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) planning, ensuring all identified risks were appropriately assessed, controlled, and mitigated throughout the project lifecycle.
Programme Management
Developed and executed a robust programme of works to ensure all project activities were completed safely within restricted engineering shifts, with no disruption to the operational railway.
Collaborative Programming
Delatim attended regular joint planning workshops where all stakeholders contributed to and agreed a single, integrated programme to safely deliver the works with minimal operational impact.
Design Verification
Provided detailed design reviews to ensure compliance with LU standards. Provided compliant solutions to scope gaps and worked in collaboration with the designers.
Extended Working Times
Exploited opportunities to work extended hours within the back of house areas of the station and behind hoardings.
