Project description
Between June 2022 and December 2025, Delatim successfully delivered the fit-out works for the HS2 Euston Traction Substation, adopting a structured and methodical approach to ensure quality, safety, and full compliance with project requirements.
The project commenced with a series of intrusive and non-intrusive surveys to accurately assess existing site conditions and inform the development of the design. This enabled the progression of detailed design solutions, which were developed in line with technical specifications and stakeholder requirements, and subsequently taken through a robust approval process.
Early engagement with key suppliers and specialist subcontractors was undertaken to provide technical input, de-risk the programme, and ensure the availability of critical materials and systems. This was followed by a coordinated procurement phase, ensuring all components were sourced in accordance with quality standards and project timelines.
Installation works were then delivered across a wide-ranging scope. This included the construction of traditional and Wembley Innovation blockwork systems, alongside the application of dust sealing to all reinforced concrete (RC) and blockwork walls to enhance durability and maintain a clean operational environment.
Drainage infrastructure was installed through screed and channel drainage runs, integrated with sub-floor insulation and high-quality floor finishes. Temporary and permanent door systems were installed throughout the newly constructed areas to support both construction activities and final operational use.
Internal layouts were formed using flexible partition wall systems, allowing adaptability of space, while handrails and balustrades were installed across all levels to meet safety and compliance standards. Access provisions included floor and sump access hatches, access gantries, maintenance platforms, and the installation of cat ladders where required to facilitate safe access for operation and maintenance.
A complete mess room fit-out was delivered to provide functional welfare facilities. Internal finishes were further enhanced through the installation of various ceiling systems and soffit linings throughout the newly constructed areas, ensuring both aesthetic quality and compliance with performance requirements.
Comprehensive permanent firestopping works were undertaken across all relevant interfaces, ensuring full compliance with fire safety regulations and maintaining the integrity of compartmentation throughout the facility.
Throughout the installation phase, rigorous assurance and quality control procedures were implemented, supported by continuous coordination and system integration to ensure all elements of the works functioned cohesively.
This was followed by detailed testing and commissioning activities to verify system performance and compliance with operational criteria. The project was successfully concluded with a structured handover process, including the provision of all required documentation, certification, and client approvals, ensuring a smooth transition into operation.
